As my apprenticeship has reached its end, I have been able to reflect on the past year and a half that I have been at Peter Bush Communications, and my time as an apprentice as a whole.

After completing A-levels in 2015, I was one of the very few students that decided to follow the apprenticeship path, rather than head to University. Why wouldn’t I jump at the opportunity to get a head start in working life, whilst learning and working towards new worthwhile qualification?

During my time at PBC I have helped with the move into our lovely new office, and I have learnt more than I ever thought I would; from running the social media accounts, editing and issuing press releases, search engine optimisation and learning how to HTML code and everything in between!

I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to explore a such wide variety of PR and marketing projects from being a part of a digital marketing team, and having the trust from my peers to manage different elements of PBC’s day to day activities. Dawn has been a huge part of my development within the company, sharing her experiences and knowledge with me has been something I’ve found extremely invaluable.

My overall apprenticeship experience has been more than I expected. I thought that I would have someone over my shoulder at every moment making sure I was doing the right thing. However, during this period I have been given the trust, independence and support I have needed to learn and grow. To me, being a part of a team, and working independently on various projects has given me the best start to building my career in marketing.

I have recently accepted the permanent position of Marketing Specialist at Peter Bush Communications and so I’m looking forward to the next chapter, and learning even more from working at Peter Bush Communications at the start of my PR and Marketing career.
